Directional Drill Locator

A Directional Drill Locator will have prior Directional Drill Locating experience within the cable or utility construction industry and a valid Driver's License, CDL A with tank endorsement is preferred.  A Directional Drill Locator will have previous equipment and drill experience and be capable of working in all temperatures, climates and weather conditions. ***Candidates with 12 months of verifiable utility construction experience are eligible for $2500 Gross Hiring Bonus, for applications received between April 1, 2022 and May 31, 2022 job offer date and start employment by June 30, 2022.***

Responsibilities:   

• Responsible for daily operations of the crew, locates, dig ups, etc. 
• Drive tow vehicle with drill to job site and perform daily maintenance on the vehicle. 
• Responsibilities include pre-job site survey/inspection to assure all utilities have been located and accounted for, planning the job, locating and directing the bore head and drill operator, assign work tasks to laborers. 
• Assure all located utilities that are in the construction path have been pot-holed, assist in other jobsite labor tasks (set pedestals, place pipe/conduit, pull cables, etc). 
• Willingness to cross-train to become proficient at operating drill machine. 
• Hold a valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or willingness to acquire one.
• Possess experience operating a utility locator, experience in underground utility construction, will accept a leadership role and responsibility for a crew.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Standing - 6 to 8 hours daily
• Walking - 6 to 8 hours daily
• Bending/Twisting - 6 to 8 hours daily
• Pushing/Pulling - 2 to 4 hours daily
• Repetitive Motions (grasping, manipulating - 6 to 8 hours daily
• Lifting (weight up to 100 lbs.) - Regularly/Daily
• Lifting (weight of 50 to 75 lbs.) - Regularly/Daily
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the positions
• A good driving record is required
• Class A CDL is a plus (Higher wage scales apply to CDL A with tank endorsement holders)

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and may be subject to adverse conditions such as high humidity, high temperatures, high wind, extreme cold, rain, sleet, and snow.  The outside work environment will vary throughout the workday including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings, and/or rural settings.  The employee is occasionally exposed to natural gas and to the risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
